Kate founded Symons IP in November 2018 following a 4-year stint as owner and partner of BKSIP. Her IP journey began back in 2004 working as a Trade Mark Assistant in-house at the BBC in London. Either side of posts in two of London’s leading IP firms, Kate also gained experience working in one of Australia’s top IP practices.
In her career working both in-house and in private practice, Kate has worked with a range of clients from SMEs to large blue-chip corporations providing advice on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious matters in the field of trade marks, designs, copyright and domain names.
Kate’s expertise includes advising on brand protection strategies, trade mark clearance searching, filing and prosecuting applications, recording assignments and licences, processing renewals, trade mark watching, handling oppositions and cancellation actions, advising on infringement, drafting consent and negotiating settlement agreements.
